Trade OS: The Operating System for Commodity Trading and Logistics

Most commodity trading businesses do not fail because of bad trading decisions. They fail because of administrative collapse — disputed broker commissions with no clear record, stock positions that do not reconcile against warehouse paper, multi-currency receivables tracked across three different spreadsheets that contradict each other. Trade OS is a full-stack operating system for commodity trading and logistics, built inside a live trading operation to solve exactly these problems.

What Trade OS Is

Trade OS is a multi-module, web-based ERP purpose-built for commodity trading and export businesses. It models the full trade lifecycle — from contract origination and purchase order creation through warehousing, milling, vessel-tracked shipment delivery, and multi-currency settlement — as a single connected data model. Everything posts to a shared ledger. Nothing lives in a separate spreadsheet that someone has to reconcile later.

The Problem It Solves

Generic accounting software — QuickBooks, Xero, Tally — does not understand a commodity trade. It has no concept of a back-to-back trade deal, a milling yield report, a bill of lading, or a broker ledger with a running commission balance. Trading businesses end up stitching together tools that were never designed to talk to each other, and paying for it in reconciliation time, disputed numbers, and audit exposure.

  • Broker commissions tracked in a spreadsheet that only one person maintains — and that person goes on holiday.
  • Stock positions that lag two days behind because warehouse arrivals are recorded on paper and keyed into the system at the end of the week.
  • Multi-currency receivables split across PKR and USD records that are never aggregated correctly because the tools do not enforce currency separation.
  • Audit requests that take three days to respond to because the audit trail is a folder of PDFs rather than a structured, searchable record.
  • Claims management handled over WhatsApp because there is no system that links a claim to the original lot, trade, and invoice.

What Trade OS Covers

Trading and Contracts

Back-to-back trade deals with dual broker support — buyer-side and seller-side — and automatic commission calculation. Contract clause library with a standard template editor and letterhead PDF generation. Purchase orders linked directly to lot traceability, so every bag of commodity arriving at your warehouse is traceable back to the contract that originated it.

Warehousing and Stock

Multi-warehouse, multi-shed stock ledger with real-time occupancy. Bag stock management split by brand and material, with full vendor and supplier reconciliation. Milling yield reports for raw commodity processing with automated yield-check validation. Truck arrival intake across gross, tare, and billing weights with arrival-versus-invoice reconciliation.

Logistics and Delivery

Vessel and shipment tracking from booking through arrival. Delivery order fulfilment with a real-time sellable-stock picker. Container tracking with quality inspection segmentation across SGS, Baltic, and Intertek. Draft and final Bill of Lading tracking through the full shipment lifecycle.

Finance and Ledgers

Multi-currency accounts receivable and payable in PKR, USD, and AED, with automatic currency-mismatch guards that prevent silent conversion errors. Bank and cash account reconciliation with full client statements of account. Broker and trader commission ledgers with running-balance calculation. Automated invoice generation linked to trades, lots, and claims.

Compliance and Audit

Every ledger-affecting action writes to a cryptographically hash-chained, append-only audit log enforced at the database level — not just application code. Export compliance workflows: Form-E generation and export proceeds realisation tracking. Per-lot document vault with checklist-driven completeness tracking. Claims management with auto-calculated debit notes.

The Architecture

Built on Next.js and TypeScript with Supabase (PostgreSQL) as the database layer. Row-level security is enforced at the database level — not just in application code — meaning even a misconfigured API endpoint cannot expose one entity's data to another. The hash-chained audit log is append-only and enforced by database policy: no administrator, no developer, and no application bug can alter or delete an audit record once it is written.

Who It Is For

  • Agri-commodity trading companies handling rice, wheat, cotton, sugar, or maize — particularly those with export operations requiring Form-E and export proceeds tracking.
  • Multi-entity trading groups with two or more trading companies that currently run on separate spreadsheets with no consolidated view.
  • Export businesses managing international shipments with multiple container loads, quality inspections, and Bill of Lading documentation.
  • Trading operations dealing in PKR, USD, and AED that need currency-safe ledgers without silent conversion errors.
  • Companies that have faced audits — from FBR, a bank, or a trading counterparty — and struggled to produce a clean, tamper-evident record of all transactions.

Licensing

Trade OS is available to license to commodity trading and logistics businesses. Two Bit Digital retains ownership of the platform and adapts it to your specific trade flows, commodity types, and compliance requirements. Licensing includes setup, onboarding, data migration from your current spreadsheets or legacy system, and ongoing support. If your trading operation has outgrown your current tools, get in touch.

Enquire about licensing Trade OS for your commodity trading or logistics business. We will scope exactly what it takes to get your operation live on the platform — trade flows, currencies, warehouses, and all.
